ARTIST GUIDELINES

Thank you for your interest in working for Eden Studios. Currently, Eden Studios is accepting "Spec Art" illustrations from artists who wish to work on projects for Conspiracy X, WitchCraft, All Flesh Must Be Eaten and Armageddon.

Spec Art illustrations are anything you wish to illustrate that would be suitable for our game worlds. For Conspiracy X, think modern age conspiracy/alien/supernatural subject matter. For WitchCraft, think modern age conspiracy/magic/monsters subject matter. For All Flesh, think B-grade zombie or slasher movies. For Armageddon, think near future (2016) supernatural war. Your best bet is to either purchase one of these games, or contact us, to get a feel for what might be acceptable Spec Art. Spec Art allows us to determine if your style fits the different genres we produce. If appropriate, these illustrations will be kept on file and may be used in upcoming Eden Studios products. If so, you will be paid for the illustrations that are used. Alternatively, we may contact you after receiving your Spec Art illustrations and further commissions will be discussed at that time. Contact is easiest through email, so be certain to include an email address with your submissions.

We receive a flood of portfolios from various artistic talent in a number of subject areas. As discussed, only those illustrations appropriate for our game lines will considered for immediate use (and payment). We have a number of projects in the planning stages and we are always on the look-out for new and interesting stuff, however. If you have illustrations that are not appropriate for our current game lines, you may still submit them on the off chance that we have something "in the works" that the illustrations may fit. Obviously, this is something of a crapshoot. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me.

SUBJECT MATTER

Conspiracy X is a modern day, Aliens Among Us-Dark Government Conspiracy Genre, much like X-Files and Dark Skies. When doing illustrations for Conspiracy X, reflect a dark moody feel in the illustrations by playing with light and shadow.

WitchCraft is a game of modern witches and witchcraft. A gothic look and feel is needed.

All Flesh Must Be Eaten is a game of survival horror, much like the video game Resident Evil, and movies like Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead. A dark horror style.

ILLUSTRATION SPECIFICATIONS AND FORMAT

Any type of illustration board or canvas is acceptable. Try to avoid any board or canvas that is more that a 1/4" (.25) thick. All illustrations must be centered on the board and have an illustrated bleed area of 1/8" (.125) on all sides. The board can be cut to the end of the illustration bleed area or be given an additional neutral border, as long as the live image area is centered. Generic size specifications are as follows:

Full Page: 7"x10.5"
Half Page-Vertical: 3"x9"
Half Page-Horizontal: 6"x4"

PRELIMINARY SKETCH AND REVIEW

After assignment, a preliminary sketch must be sent in by the preliminary sketch due date for review and approval by the Art Director before starting on the final illustration. Without this preliminary sketch, a final approved illustration will not be accepted and paid for. If sketches are not submitted by the due date, it will be assumed that you cannot finish the assignment for that illustration and that assignment will be given to another artist. You will be informed if such an instant arises.

The preliminary sketch must show the basic composition of the illustration in a readable format. This can range from a thumbnail drawing to finished pencils. But it is important that the sketch be approved before the final illustration is completed. Sketches can be faxed directly to the Art Director: FAX 518-435-1120.

QUALITY AND REVISIONS

Put your best work into the assignment. No matter how small or how large this project may seem to you, you were hired because of the quality of your work seen on other projects from your portfolio. If for any reason your final illustration does not fulfill the quality of work surrounded by it or promised by you, its creator, it will be returned for revisions. Final illustrations that are different from an approved preliminary sketch will also not be accepted.
